Final 3rd Year Pieces

2–3 minutes

Here are my final pieces for this project. While I will be writing a longer evaluation later on for this module I wanted to just briefly reflect on the success of each piece here.

Tessa Violet Video

This is perhaps the piece I am most proud of this semester; I feel like the style really fits the song well and all of my animations look as good as I can get them. I wish YouTube would let me give it a better thumbnail though. Overall I really don’t think I would change much about this piece, maybe one day I could expand it to the length of the whole song.

This piece also taught me a lot about my process; I work very sporadically and sometimes I am ashamed of this because it seems chaotic and messy, but actually it worked so well for this piece. I planned out the ideas as they came to me rather than dwelling on planning everything before I started, and it meant that as I discovered new techniques I could plan to add them into my work where appropriate.

Honne Video

Admittedly I didn’t think that I would finish this piece. I had lost touch with it because of lockdown and found it really hard to get back engaged with. Once I did though I had no problem finishing it off to a good standard. I think possibly it isn’t my very best work, but is still good and successful, I think consumers would enjoy it. If I had more time with this I would perhaps create a better graphic for the fire on the chorus, because I think its really poor. I know I could do this in Cinema 4D however time restrictions mean I won’t have chance.

TV Ident

I wish I could’ve created more of these! I enjoyed making this so much and I really think that this could be used for a real TV channel. This was such a rewarding piece to create because I often struggle to validify my own work, and play it down as average or amateur, but with this, I think that if I had the proper rendering facilities and render engine, I could have a really successful piece that could be shown on TV.

This piece of work was something different from what I am experienced in. I watch some Twitch streamers in my spare time but I have never been on the other side of things, I’m always an audience member. Before the project started I had no clue how to use OBS but I found it such a useful piece of software that I switched to using it rather than Quicktime for screen recordings. I have also never created any form of environment in Cinema 4D and I found the process to be much more fun and far less stressful than I had imagined, and I have a new found love for the Toon Shading tool. I can’t wait to experiment more with toon shading and hopefully create more Twitch packs to potentially sell in future.
