Brainstorming the TV Ident

2–3 minutes

I decided to open up Cinema 4D and experiment to find some ideas for what I could do for my ident.

This piece is just a simple motext, turned into a solid object, then with a soft body modifier and pressure added to make it bouncy. The material is an experiment with different colours in the reflection channels, and I like the look it has but I’m not sure its what I want for this project.

I was contemplating using some kind of steps in one of my pieces, but looking back I really don’t like this idea. I also don’t like how the bump map on the ball looks, but I do think that the bright pink infinite background is nice and I will probably use it in one of my final pieces.

I really want to do some kind of inflation or liquid piece again this semester after doing my lava lamp last semester. I created this piece in the shape of a 7 which I think is really effective, however I think I need more free space inside the shape for them to flow around eachother, and possibly use a different colour as a friend in passing asked me if it was pieces of bone!

I have just recently learned about the voronoi fracture feature and wanted to experiment with this. I think having something collapse like this could be a really cool effect for one of my idents. I also wanted to experiment with my materials here; I put the material on the whole object so that it was spread across all of the sections, and I think this looks good until it moves and the material does not stick to the pieces. I think this is to do with the projection mode, it is probably set to world and needs setting to object.

Sound

I have also had a listen to some sounds that I think would fit nicely with the brand. It’s important to have these before I start creating any final pieces because then I can fit my visuals to the sounds.

Zapsplat allows you to use their sounds for free as long as you attribute them, so I will definitley be using these!
