Daniel Danielsson is a motion designer who has worked with big clients such as Lush and Sky. He is a co-founder of, and creative director at Savage & Civil, a motion marketing company.
I really love some of the pieces he has created. This piece for Lush is one of my favourites. The warm colours are visually pleasing, and the smooth motion throughout the shot is very dreamlike. I also love that it loops perfectly, I could sit and watch it all day it’s so soothing. I would love to be able to create a piece like this one day.
Daniel has also made some pieces that are similar in style to my project, however, I like his visual style much more than the one I have adopted. Instead of using only the CMYK colours, he has used additional bright colours (such as green, purple and orange), and I much prefer how they work within the white composition. This piece would actually be something that I would love to take inspiration from in future, creating something complex like this would be hugely ambitious for me but the actual models and motions are definitely within the scope of my skill development. This could be something I aim to do in my project next semester.
His lighting in this piece is absolutely amazing, it is soft, nothing is over exposed, there are enough shadows, but everything is perfectly lit. I am yet to master this within my own shots, and I’m still finding lighting to be really difficult even though I know the theory behind it.
